Horizon remote Pt# 107950 - setting transmission code (communication set-up)

Under normal conditions, pressing the Power Button on the Remote Control should cause the DIAG LED to emit a solid, steady green light. However, if the DIAG LED shows a solid, steady amber light upon pressing any button on the remote, this indicates that the control box is receiving a signal from the remote, but the transmission code is incorrect and requires configuration.

When replacing a Horizon remote control, you should copy the dip switch setting of the previous remote. However, if these dip switches have been tampered with and altered you will need to set up communication by:

Pre-September 2002 product - setting the dip switches on the remote to match the transmission code sticker found on (often the underside) the control box inside the cooler

Post-September 2002 product - automatic address configuration

REMOTE TRANSMISSION CODE DIP SWITCH ADDRESS SETTING HORIZON I & II (Approx Pre-September 2002)

The dip switches located in the back of the remote control, specifically the top row labeled 1 to 8, must correspond to the 1 to 8 settings on the transmission code sticker found on the control box (CPMD address code). Additionally, the dip switches on the bottom row, numbers 7 and 8, must align with numbers 9 and 10 on the transmission code sticker on the control box (CPMD address code).

Setting Up Horizon Remote Control for Breezair Products

This process is for setting up communication between the Horizon remote control and Breezair products. It applies to all new Horizon remote handsets replacing spare parts for Breezair products with CPMD units built since September 2002. For units built before this date, remote controls must match the transmission sticker on the CPMD.

  1. Power-Up: When you first power up the system, use the remote handset to set up communication within the first four minutes.
  2. Establish Unique Address Code: The remote will establish a unique “address” code with the CPMD. This unique code ensures that each cooler only responds to its specific remote control.
  • This prevents interference from other nearby Breezair coolers, such as those in the same house or a neighboring house.

You can only set the CPMD address within the first four minutes of switching on the mains power to the CPMD (control box in the cooler). Follow these steps to configure the automatic address code:

  1. Isolate the CPMD: Make sure the CPMD is disconnected from the mains power.
  2. Remove Remote Control Batteries: Take out the batteries from the remote control.
  3. Blank Screen: Ensure the remote-control screen is completely blank. If it’s not, turn the remote control on and off (with the batteries removed) until the display is blank.
  4. Check Receiver: Ensure the receiver is plugged into the CPMD and positioned correctly.
  5. Connect Mains Power: Connect the mains power to the CPMD and wait 5 seconds for the LEDs on the CPMD to illuminate.
  6. Insert Batteries: Insert the batteries into the remote control. There will be a 5-second delay before the remote sends the address code to the CPMD.
  • The display will be blank for 5 seconds after inserting the batteries.
  • The letters “Id” will appear at the bottom of the display for 1 second (Fig A).
  • The display will then show the clock and flash an “o” symbol to indicate the transmission of the address code (Fig B).

 7. Address Set: The remote control has now set the CPMD address

NB: Important points to remember when fitting Horizon remote controls:

  • When setting up communications during installation Batteries must always be inserted

AFTER power has been applied to the CPMD (Control box in cooler).

  • Setting up communication (Address code) can only be achieved within 4 minutes of power

           being applied to CPMD.
