SOME IMPORTANT POINTS WHEN USING A PRESSURE PUMP TO SUPPLY WATER
TO AN EVAPORATIVE COOLER

* Must conform to local plumbing rules, regulations and standards
* Water connection is ½” BSP
* You must install a manual ¼ turn ball type shut off valve in the water supply line adjacent to the cooler,
subject to local plumbing regulations. This allows the water supply to be isolated whenever work needs to be
done on the cooler. This should also be done when upgrading from an older cooler to a newer one with a
drain system ( changeover) or when fitting a CPMD upgrade kit to an older unit ( eg ES cooler)
* Water Supply : 800 Kpa (115psi) Maximum ‐ Minimum water pressure 15PSI/100Kpa (** Water solenoid
needs a minimum pressure to operate)
Minimum flow when running of 8 litres per minute (allowances need to be made for extreme conditions).
Pump will not start if probes don’t touch water for 20 minutes. Will show “02” fault.
* In areas subject to freezing, the water line needs to have a drain down facility
Water pipes need to be well saddled to prevent water hammer
Poor water quality: Inlet to float valve can be blocked with copper filings or calcium deposits from poor water
supplies
* Pressure pump issues : Installer must talk to pressure pump suppliers for methods to prevent burning out
pressure pumps due to cycling i.e.. Header tank installed, pressure differentials adjusted at pressure pump to
allow for coolers float valve constantly calling for water (evaporation) during operation or a pressure tank
fitted to pump
