MagIQtouch – Builder Lock Activated (Controller Locked / Unable to Adjust Settings)

Overview

Builder Lock is a configurable access restriction within the MagIQtouch controller. It operates similarly to a password and must be intentionally set via the controller interface.

In most cases where Builder Lock is active and the code is unknown; this is typically due to:

  • Unintentional user input (for example, navigating service menus and entering codes such as 7378), or
  • External interruption (such as a power loss occurring while settings are being accessed)

This behaviour is consistent with normal system operation and is not indicative of a product fault.

Important

  • Builder Lock is a unique user-set code
  • There is no override or master reset code available
  • If the code cannot be identified, access cannot be restored via the controller

Applies To

  • MagIQtouch controllers used with heating products only

    • (e.g. ducted gas heaters using MagIQtouch)
  • Controller revisions:

    • 44R0719 and earlier

Note:
Later revisions (44R0920 and above) include improvements that reduce the likelihood of unintended activation.

Common Trigger Scenarios

  • Entering 7378 (service access code) and navigating beyond the intended menu
  • Advancing through prompts without recognising the Builder Lock screen
  • Multiple or repeated button presses
  • Power interruption while accessing menus or settings

Symptoms

  • Lock icon displayed on screen
  • Settings cannot be changed
  • Customer unsure how lock was activated

Recovery Procedure

1. Access Builder Lock Screen

  • Navigate to:
    • Settings → Heater → Builder Lock / Unlock

2. Enter Service Access

  • Enter 7378
  • Press CONT

3. Attempt Default Entry

  • Leave code as:
    000000

  • Press CONT twice

4. Confirm Response

  • Screen should display:
    • “INCORRECT CODE”
  • This confirms the controller is responding to input

5. Power Cycle Controller

  • Isolate power to the wall control
  • Restore power and allow system to reboot

6. If Still Locked

  • Attempt access using any known or likely codes the customer may have entered (i.e. 737800, 007378)

7. Repeat if Required

  • Reattempt steps if needed
  • Button presses may not always register on first entry

If Lock Cannot Be Cleared

If the Builder Lock code cannot be identified or the above steps are unsuccessful:

  • The system cannot be unlocked via software or service code
  • The only available resolution is to:

Replace the ICS (Integrated Control System) (heater PCBA as it is locked)

Technician Notes

  • Builder Lock is a deliberate function, not automatically applied by the system
  • No factory override is available by design
  • This applies only to heating systems using MagIQtouch
  • Resolution depends on:
    • Correct code entry, or
    • ICS replacement where the code is unknown

Recommended Customer Guidance

  • Do not enter service menus unless instructed
  • Avoid entering codes unless their purpose is known
  • Treat Builder Lock as a secure access feature
