E1 Fault Code – High Pressure Protection (Ducted Systems) SDHV / SCHV - KDHV / KCHV - Residential Service Guide ES E247-A

Applies to

Braemar ducted reverse cycle inverter systems:

  • SDHV / SCHV Series – R410A ducted (single & three phase)
  • KDHV / KCHV Series – R32 ducted inverter

What does E1 mean?

E1 indicates the system has shut down due to high refrigerant pressure.

The outdoor unit has detected unsafe operating pressure and stopped the compressor to prevent damage.

Common symptoms

  • System stops during cooling or heating
  • Outdoor fan may stop or cycle
  • E1 displayed on controller or indoor unit
  • Unit may restart after a delay, then fault again

Likely causes

  • Restricted airflow through outdoor coil
  • Dirty or blocked outdoor coil
  • Outdoor fan not operating or operating at low speed
  • Refrigerant overcharge
  • Refrigerant flow restriction
  • Faulty high‑pressure sensor or wiring

Checks to perform

  1. Verify outdoor fan operation
  2. Inspect outdoor coil for dirt or blockage
  3. Confirm clearances meet installation requirements
  4. Check refrigerant charge and system pressures
  5. Inspect pressure sensor wiring and connections
