CW3 / CW6 noise reports on straight metal droppers with a plenum for air distribution
Noise Issue: CW3 / CW6 units can appear noisy when installed on straight metal droppers. Given that these units have large supply and exhaust fans, some noise is expected. In most cases, this noise is normal operation. However, if the noise is excessive, there are several checks and steps that can be taken to reduce this.
- Isolate the Noise Source: The installer should run the supply and exhaust fans independently using the MagIQtouch service menu. This helps determine if the noise can be isolated to one fan or the other.
- Check and Secure Components: Ensure all parts of the system, including the fan, plenum, and dropper, are securely fastened. Loose components can cause vibrations and noise.
- Install Vibration Dampeners: Add rubber or foam dampeners between the bottom of the unit and the top of the dropper. These materials help absorb vibrations and reduce noise transmission.
- Use Acoustic Insulation on the metal dropper: Line the inside of the plenum and ductwork with acoustic insulation material. This helps absorb sound and reduce noise levels.
