Fault Description

E6 indicates a communication fault caused by incorrect indoor–outdoor unit pairing within the WSHV range.

In ES E247‑A, E6 is explicitly defined only for WSHV systems and occurs when a WSHV‑S and WSHV‑T unit are incorrectly mixed.

? This is not a generic inverter communication fault across all Braemar products.

Customer Symptoms

  • Indoor display shows E6
  • Unit does not start or stops immediately after power‑up
  • No heating or cooling operation
  • Outdoor unit inoperative
  • Fault appears immediately (no run time)

Confirmed Root Cause

❌ Indoor–Outdoor Model Mismatch (Design Restriction)

The service guide states:

  • WSHV‑S indoor units will NOT operate with WCHV‑T outdoor units
  • WSHV‑T indoor units will NOT operate with WCHV‑S outdoor units

In either scenario, E6 will be displayed and normal operation is impossible.

Diagnostic Procedure (WSHV Series Only)

Step 1 – Identify Indoor Unit Model

Check rating plate:

  • WSHVxxD1S → WSHV‑S indoor
  • WSHVxxD1T → WSHV‑T indoor

Step 2 – Identify Outdoor Unit Model

Check rating plate:

  • WCHVxxD1S → WSHV‑S outdoor
  • WCHVxxD1T → WSHV‑T outdoor

Step 3 – Confirm Correct Pairing

Valid pairings

  • WSHV‑S indoor ↔ WCHV‑S outdoor
  • WSHV‑T indoor ↔ WCHV‑T outdoor

Invalid pairings (E6 will always occur)

  • WSHV‑S indoor ↔ WCHV‑T outdoor
  • WSHV‑T indoor ↔ WCHV‑S outdoor

Step 4 – Power Reset

  • Isolate power to indoor and outdoor
  • Wait 5 minutes
  • Restore power

⚠ If pairing is incorrect, E6 will reappear immediately

Step 5 – Wiring & PCB Checks (Only if Pairing Is Correct)

If correct S↔S or T↔T pairing is confirmed:

  • Inspect communication wiring for damage or incorrect termination
  • Check terminal tightness and polarity
  • Substitute known‑good PCB if required

Do not pursue PCB replacement until pairing is confirmed correct

Key Technical Notes

  • E6 in ES E247‑A is only defined for WSHV systems
  • E6 is not listed in:
    • General wall split error code tables
    • Ducted split error code charts
  • Treat E6 as a hard compatibility fault, not a universal comms error
  • No refrigerant work is required for this fault
